Happy new year from Du dumme Sau! I promise more updates shortly – it’s been a busy time of late – but in the meantime here’s one of the Kinski items I received as a Christmas present. The above portrait by Greg Spalenka is from the November 1985 edition of Playboy magazine, which has previously been referenced here because of Marcelle Clements’ interview with Klaus called Klaus Kinski & The Thing. If you’ve not read this already, you can access it online at http://www.klaus-kinski.de/veroef/playboy85-1.htm
Also Playboy related, I received a copy of Will Tremper’s movie Mir hat es immer Spass gemacht (aka How Did A Nice Girl Like You Get Into This Business? or The Naughty Cheerleader) which features Klaus playing the role of a pimp. Barbi Benton, a Playboy model and girlfriend of Hugh Hefner, played the “naughty cheerleader” and Hefner himself made a very brief appearance. I’ll review the film shortly but suffice to say that whilst Klaus is a joy to see (as always), the film, well, not so much…
I was also lucky enough to finally get a copy of the huge Kinski: Vermächtnis book by Peter Geyer and O.A. Krimmel. Again, I’ll say more about this at a later date, but I will just say for now that even if you’re not a German speaker, do buy this book as it’s absolutely beautiful and crammed full of photos of Klaus – a lot of which I’ve never seen before. I can’t recommend it enough.
Anyway, have a great 2012 and keep on visiting Du dumme Sau! for more Kinski-ness.
